Purchases Using your Visa Debit Card
Visa has announced that effective June 18, 2011, the maximum
transactions amount limit used to qualify Visa consumer and
commercial card fuel transactions for the CPS/Automated Fuel
Dispense (CPS/AFD) program will be updated from $75.00 to
$125.00.
What this means to the consumer is that when making a gas
purchase and paying at the pump with your Visa Debit card,
you will be authorizing a hold on your account in the amount
of $125, instead of $75. You will also be able to
purchase more than $75 worth of gas, without the worry of
pump shut off.

Fraud Alert
When viewing advertisements for financial services (loans,
investments, etc.), be mindful of whether it is a reputable
company or a fraud scam. Fraudsters have been known to
place ads in newspapers or other venues, offering financial
services. Usually these ads do not contain a business
name, just a phone number. The phone number will reach
the fraudster and they will attempt to gain your personal
information. Always check out how you are dealing with
before releasing any information.
Please be aware that Home Federal will not call you and
request personal information (i.e. social security number,
pin numbers etc). If you receive a call of this nature
please do not release any information, hang up and contact
Home Federal.
Malicious Spam Alert
We have been made aware of a new malicious malware trojan
being deployed via spam messages. Please be on the
look out for and do not open anything like the following, as
this is how they are being disguised: fraud alerts
from the Internal Revenue Service, Twitter account hijack
warnings, and salacious Youtube.com videos. The fake
IRS e-mails contain the subject line " notice of
Underreported Income" and encourage the recipient to click a
link to review their tax statement. As always do not
open an email message that you are not sure of the sender
and be on the look out for suspicious emails.

We would like to share with you a new, exciting security
measure that Home Federal Bank has enabled to help protect
you when shopping online. Home Federal Bank has joined
with VISA to institute Verified by VISA. Verified by
VISA is a registration process that (when used by
cardholders and merchants) helps prevent anyone else from
using your Home Federal VISA Check Card to make purchases
over the internet. The registration/activation of
Verified by VISA will verify your identity and you will be
able to create a password to use when making purchases
online using your Home Federal VISA Check Card. By
creating a password, only you will be able to make purchases
online at participating merchants.
There are two ways to activate or register your card for
Verified by VISA.
1. Activation Anytime. You may
activate your card by going
to
Verified by VISA
website or by going to Home Federal's
website and clicking on the Verified by
VISA icon. This
method will take you to the website to activate your
card
by entering your account number and answering a few
questions.
You will also create a password for further use.
2.
Activation During Shopping. This
can occur when you are
shopping at a participating merchant on
the internet and
you have not yet activated your card. Once
you have
entered and reviewed the billing, shipping, and card
information,
a Verified by VISA activation screen is
displayed. This will
verify your identity once you have
entered the requested information.
You may then
create a password.
